About the event
Confirmation Sunday
In the administering of Confirmation, the Church follows the example of the Apostles in the early Church.
In Acts chapter 8, we read that after many in Samaria believed the Gospel and were baptised, the apostles Peter and John went to pray for them and lay hands on them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:4–17).
Through this passage, Scripture teaches that a special strengthening by the Holy Spirit is given through prayer and the laying on of hands.
As we gather for Confirmation, we pray that God will strengthen by His Holy Spirit those who have been baptised as His children.
